Friday, May 8, 2009 I attended the Down & Dirty Tricks Photoshop CS4 seminar at the Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. The initial cost for the seminar was $99 but I received a discount for being a member of National Association of Photoshop Professionals and early registration, which brough my total down to $69. The seminar was from 10 am – 5pm. The key presenter was Scott Kelby himself. This was my first time attending a Photoshop seminar by Scott Kelby.
I thought the price was really cheap and knew I would learn a few things BUT walked away with a wealth of knowledge. Far more than I could have ever imagined.
The seminar outline was as follows
* layers and compositing techiniques
* designing with type
* Photoshop down & dirty tricks
* Photoshop killer tips
* Tricks of the Trade
Any of the above would have been worth the $99 cover charge.
I highly recommend this seminar when it comes to a town near you.

My Canon 5D Mark II arrived today. I am charging the battery and perusing the owner’s manual. Tomorrow is going to be a GREAT day of shooting.
So far, I am impressed with the way the camera feels in my hand.
Stay tuned for new photos.

I present to you the Umbels.
GW and Charity united their lives on Saturday, December 6, 2008.

This couple was married the following weekend.

It was an honor and a pleasure to capture these special moments for the Umbels and their guests.

It was a pleasure working with Stephanie. She has the most amazing eyes. I would love to do a retro 40’s shoot with her. I believe she has the look that could pull that era, when everyone was glamorous.

Ebony was definitely a pleasure to work with. She made my job feel like it should feel . . . fun. When I saw her coat I told her it reminded me of a classic detective, so she grabbed a newspaper and we stood her beside the lamp pole for the cliche detective image. She pulled it off fabulously.

I remember the D.C. snipers oh so well. I remember the snipers reeking havoc on the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area for what seemed like an eternity. People everywhere in the area were running out of gas from fear of running out of gas. I could go on and on, but all I can say is I am glad that season is over.
This image was taken from the sixth floor terrace of the museum. I was in awe of the view up and down Pennsylvania Avenue. The terrace will be close on Innaguration Day for obvious reasons.
